Synopsis Shiki Manga

Nothing happens in the village of Sotoba.

Shiki.Sotoba is a village "surrounded by death," a small traditional Japanese village that creates severe markers from the fir trees surrounding the isolated city. On one particularly hot summer, people begin dying in droves, with some people living with their family's rotting bodies for weeks until residents discover their own bodies. In the meantime, the citizens start chattering about the new family that moved into the newly constructed house on top of a town mountain. As the death toll rises, the city's doctors believe it would be a new form of disease when they begin to see the night figures of the dead walking. Shiki is blurring the line between good and evil, following a story that has no true protagonists or antagonists but rather two sides trying to survive in a deadly setting. Can one be called evil for not starving to death?
